The first Commissioner of Police of the twin cities of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack

Responsible for setting up the first police commissioner in Odisha.

A keen marksman and who won prizes at the national level in Police pistol-revolver shooting competitions


Post Graduate in English Literature from the University of Delhi in 1979.

Work Experience:

Worked with Steel Authority of India as Management Trainee and State Bank of India as Probationary Officer before joining the Indian Police Service in 1982.

Was Chairman & Managing Director of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation when the state government had decided to close the sick corporation because of heavy losses and liabilities. He turned it around into a profit-making corporation and the organization continues to be profitable even today.


Favourite pass time is spending time in the midst of nature and wildlife.

Acted in teleserial and films and also won the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ award in Odiya films for the year 2000

Fond of western music, ghazals and traditional Indian music. Has performed on stage, in TV shows and has had some of his songs recorded.

An enthusiastic sportsman and plays cricket, tennis, badminton and football.


He believes in the motto that ‘Your job is important, but always remember that it is your livelihood, not your life. It is essential that life is lived and experienced in all its fullness’.
